NMS100 Qualification

NMS100 Qualification
To qualify for the NMS100 program, middle school students must earn a qualifying score on the PSAT 8/9, taken in October or November of their 8th grade year. Any 8th grader who earns a qualifying score (currently the 80th percentile or above) or is one of the top 15 incoming freshmen at their high school is invited to join the program.

Students are highly encouraged to start preparing early--as early as 6th grade--and should be prepared to do more work than their teachers require, especially in English and math, because earning A's doesn't automatically mean a student is on track to qualify.

However, students and families should NOT ask teachers for more work. Part of the program requires students to become independent learners, learners who can find their own resources and learn beyond the classroom, whether alone or with other students. Teachers though CAN be used as resources and guides.
