What Is An IB Education?

The IB continuum of international education for students aged 3 to 19 years old is unique because of its academic and personal rigor. We challenge students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. We aim to inspire a love of learning throughout life that is marked by enthusiasm and empathy. The IB aspires to help schools develop well-rounded students who respond to challenges with optimism and an open mind, are confident in their own identities, make ethical decisions, join others in celebrating our common humanity and are prepared to apply what they learn in the real-world, complex and unpredictable situations.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Students must have earned Standard met, or Standard exceeded in both English Language Arts and Math on the most recent California Assessment of School Performance and Progress (CAASPP) adopted or equivalent state test.
  2. Students must have a cumulative 3.0 or higher grade point average (GPA) in all academic subjects attempted for the previous year or have a Grade 8, Semester 1 academic grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Students must have a grade of B or higher in the Grade 8 Semester 1 Math class.
  4. Students must have no D or F grades on any academic subjects in the 1st semester of Grade.

The Global Leadership Academy promotes intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life in the 21st century. At the same time, giving students an opportunity to take college-level courses and exams while still in high school.

The Global Leadership Academy is dedicated to not only preparing our students for their respective International Baccalaureate & Advanced Placement exams, but also has invested in counseling students in pursuing coursework in college that guides them toward their career goals.

Arroyo Valley High School offers multiple opportunities for students to be involved in special programs while at the same time being part of our MYP & IB Programs. Our Associated Student Body (ASB) program is known across the state for its amazing school spirit events and activities. We are a district supported Visual and Performing Arts magnet. We have seven Linked Learning Career Academies, and offer certifications in the following:
  • Adobe Photoshop, CPR/First-Aid, Work Experience Internships, OSHA 10
  • CompTIA IT Fundamentals +, A+, Net+, Security+, Ethical Hacking
  • 3 Forklift Operating (Standing, Sitting & Picking), Google Education and many more to come.

In addition, we house strong college-bound programs, ranging from school-wide AVID & Advanced Placement Courses and Exams FOR ALL STUDENTS.

IB students embrace their own cultures and are open and responsive to other cultures and views. They are fully engaged, ever curious learners for life. IB Programs Offered At Cajon

Middle Years Program (MYP)
Since 2011 Cajon High School has been authorized by IB World Schools to provide a Middle Years Program.
The IB Middle Years Program (MYP), for students in grades 9 and 10 grade provides, a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and to the real world.

Diploma Program (DP)
Since 1987 Cajon High School has been authorized by IB World Schools to provide a Diploma Program. The IB Diploma Program (DP), for students in grades 11 and 12, is a balanced and academically challenging program of education. The DP prepares students for success in higher education and encourages them to become active participants in an increasingly global society. The program has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities. At Cajon High School, we offer a diverse selection of IB courses, providing students with the opportunity to select a rigorous course path that compliments their interests.
