It’s been more than 200 days since March 12, 2020, the last day our SBCUSD students were at school.

As of October 12, San Bernardino City Unified students have been out of school for 214 days. Today, we begin a campaign aimed at informing our families, employees, and the community about all the groundbreaking work that has gone on behind the scenes in the 200 some days since the coronavirus pandemic forced the closure of our schools.

Since that day seven months ago, hundreds of District employees, from custodians to police officers, have continued working on large-scale preparations to ensure our schools are clean and safe and ready to welcome students back for in-person instruction, whenever it is safe to do so. Improvements like hospital-grade HEPA filters in every classroom, hundreds of hand sanitizing stations, and new, state-of-the-art equipment will play a key role in helping us combat the spread of illness in our schools and offices.

This essential work is a testament to the Board of Education’s vision and unwavering commitment to providing a safe learning environment for all students and staff.

Today, we begin 200 ways San Bernardino City Unified Schools are preparing to welcome children back to their second home. Be sure to follow us on social media to learn more about all that we’re doing to keep our students and staff safe and healthy.
