The Winter Olympics thrilled audiences earlier this year, and the Paralympic Games recently ended. But in San Bernardino, the Anderson School Olympics are the big event.

Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Anderson campus. Students of all abilities will participate in events from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with closing ceremonies immediately following.

Anderson School serves students ages 12 to 22 with moderate to profound disabilities by helping them develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to promote independence and personal development.

“The Anderson Olympics provide all Anderson students, regardless of the challenges they face, with an opportunity to practice good sportsmanship, to challenge themselves physically and socially, and to feel the joy of competing against others or just themselves,” said Principal Nereida Gutierrez. “It is the heart and spirit of our theme this year to Be Inspired.”
