The Board of Education has begun looking for Superintendent Dale Marsden’s successor, a process that will begin on January 22 with two community input meetings. The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Dr. Margaret Hill Community Room in the Board of Education building located at 777 North F. Street.

San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) officials have made the decision to close Paakuma’ K–8 School on Friday, October 11, 2019. Due to a public safety power shutoff by Edison, Paakuma’ School was without power for most of the day on Thursday, October 10. Classes remained in session, and students continued learning in a safe environment.

On the evening of Friday, August 16, 2019, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department arrested Perry Wiseman. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department website, Wiseman was arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography. The San Bernardino City Unified School District is cooperating with the law enforcement investigation. Additional information can be found on the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department website. Wiseman, assistant superintendent of Human Resources, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. Due to confidentiality laws and to ensure the integrity of the investigation, additional information will not be released.

We want to make you aware of the latest viral challenge/hoax targeting children. It is called the Momo challenge. The hoax falsely claims that a disturbing character suggests dangerous tasks for children to perform, including potentially hurting themselves or hiding for an extended period of time. These suggestions can reportedly be found spliced into some YouTube Kids videos, including Fortnite and Peppa Pig, and the smartphone and tablet app WhatsApp.
