Strategy 4: Learning Beyond the Boundaries

We will organize student learning experiences based on readiness, need and relevance, which will provide and promote learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom, the clock, and the calendar.



High Expectations
We will ensure high expectations for Learning Beyond the Boundaries by vetting and developing learning experiences that ensure students are exposed to rigorous levels of learning that are active, collaborative, meaningful and supports mastery.

The programs we search out and embrace will provide learning opportunities that take our students beyond their current experience and expand their horizons.



Action Steps:
  1. All district elementary schools will have Preschool-5th/6th grade. We will extend opportunities for Parent/Child classes, ages 0-3 and childcare programs similar to Allred.

  2. Develop district-wide systems to transition students from Pre-K to elementary to middle school to high school and beyond.

  3. Provide opportunities and supports for all grade levels to participate in summer learning, enrichment, and internship experiences.

  4. Students will have opportunities to participate in intra-district and inter-district distance learning utilizing available technologies.

  5. Students across all grade levels will have opportunities leading to Accelerated Graduation.

  6. Coordinate and improve post high school supports & opportunities for all Special Education and Foster/Homeless Youth students and their families.

  • Monitoring the development of programs that expands learning

  • Seeking sustainable funding

  • Collaborating with Colleges and Universities

  • Establishing internships with business and industry

  • Working within and among district departments to define and establish resources

  • Ensure that all students have opportunities for experiential learning that expands their horizons beyond the traditional school environment.
