Reserve Police Officer Program
The San Bernardino City Unified School District Police Department was the first school police department in the State of California to organize and implement a Reserve Police Officer Program. Presently, the Department has four reserve officers. Reserve officers must be graduates of a POST-certified police academy.
To become a reserve police officer, an individual must apply to the Chief of Police, pass a comprehensive interview process followed by a polygraph examination and POST background investigation.
Upon completion of the approximately 500+ hours field officer training program, reserve officers will provide law enforcement services to the San Bernardino City Unified School District on a voluntary basis.
Each reserve officers is expected to follow the same policies and procedures as full-time police officers.
Reserve officers are not paid, however, they are provided with the required safety equipment, uniforms and advanced law enforcement training.
Our reserve police officers serve with pride and perform their duties in the best traditions of the law enforcement profession.
