Current Advisory Minutes
  Students learn tune up, troubleshooting, the use of computer diagnostics, computerized alignment procedures, and brakes.  Careers related to Vehicle Maintenance, Service, and Repair are explored and discussed.

  • Complete a course interest form and turn it in to the counseling office at your high school.
  • Requirement: Current enrollment at Cajon, Pacific, San Bernardino or San Gorgonio High School

  • Curriculum and Prerequisites:

    *National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation

    Cajon High School: Roger Light, Teacher

    Roger Light holds a Masters degree in Vocational Education. Mr. Light has taught automotive repair  for 12 years. Prior to teaching, Mr. Light came from industry as an Automotive Technician and worked as a Mechanic.

    Pacific High School: Vijay Maraj, Teacher

    Mr. Maraj joined the Career Technical Education team at Pacific in 2010. Mr. Maraj is a certified Automotive, Truck, and Coach Technician; installer /inspector for alternate fueled vehicles. Mr. Maraj is a graduate of Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology and The University of Toronto.

    San Bernardino High School: Tom Arrington, Teacher
     Mr. Arrington joins Career/Technical Education with a combined 34 years of industry and teaching experience. He has been ASE certified for 26 years and is currently an ASE Master Technician. Mr. Arrington graduated Purdue University with a BS in Technology, received his Industrial Arts teaching license from Black Hills State University studied Computer Aided Drafting, and earned a certificate in Architecture.


    San Gorgonio High School: Brian Heaton, Teacher
    Mr. Heaton is an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician.  He has worked in the automotive industry for 30 years and maintains his California Smog License.  Before coming to the San Bernardino City Unified School District, Mr. Heaton taught Automotive Technology at Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga.
