|Too Good for Violence is a social skills curriculum taught to all 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Riley students are presented with the character education curriculum in the classroom by Mr. Partida the school counselor. The Too Good for Violence prevention curriculum consists of four interconnected strands: Conflict Resolution, Anger Management, Respect for Self and Others and Effective Communication.
|As the counselor here at Riley Elementary it is my goal to Be Nice to all staff and students. Teaching children and to be nice creates a positive atmosphere and crosses all social boundaries. It is important in creating a positive environment here at Riley because when we do students and staff members have a better chance at getting along in the classroom. So remember: Be Nice!
|Bullying can be a problem in all environments, but it tends to be magnified in school settings. Here at Riley we promote a bully free school by presenting anit-bullying curriculum to all students. Some ways to do this is to teach all students on campus what a bully is, how to stand up for yourself, and how to ask for help. Riley also has a safe heaven box where students can confidentially ask for help by filling out a request for help. For more information regarding Bullying click the link below.
|The Riley Elementary Honor Patrol is composed of 4th and 5th grade students who excel academically, have positive behavior, and are positive role models to students on campus. They have specific duties on campus which include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor hallways
- Monitor tetherball courts
- Assist with assemblies
- School greeters
